The Five Reference UGC System

How the DEWLY skincare UGC clip was made with no creator, no bathroom and no product: five reference images, each with one job, wired into Seedance 2.5 with one timed prompt. Every prompt is below, ready to paste.

01Step 1
Give every reference exactly one job
Make five stills in Nano Banana Pro (gemini-3-pro-image), and keep each one clean so it only teaches the model one thing. 1 · The face: a chest-up portrait on a plain wall, nothing else in frame, so the model locks her identity and not the room. 2 · The product: a packshot on seamless white with the label text in quotes in your prompt (for a client, use their real packshot). 3 · The room: the location with nobody in it. 4 · The outfit: laid flat on a bed, no person. 5 · The camera: a phone-camera frame with a hand and no face, which sets the iPhone look. Add the realism layer to every one: visible pores, flyaway hairs, film grain, muted grade, no beauty filter.
02Step 2
Never add a second face
The camera reference has a hand in it, not a face, on purpose. Two photoreal faces across the references confuse identity, and Seedance can refuse a run when a reference looks like a real person. One face reference per clip, every other person described in words. Also check reference 5 for a phone bezel: ours rendered one, and an edit pass (remove the phone frame, full bleed) fixed it before it could leak into the video.
03Step 3
Wire all five, skip the start frame
In Seedance 2.5, connect the five stills to reference_images in order 1 to 5. Leave start_frame empty: the model will not take references and a start frame together. Settings for UGC: 9:16, 1080p, 12 seconds, audio on. Run the estimate first. This 12-second clip was 50,374 credits, about $10, at 1080p (720p is roughly half).
04Step 4
Write the prompt in three blocks
Block one names what each reference is for ("Reference 3 is the location: this exact small bathroom...") and says do not redesign or relabel the product. Block two is four timed beats, one action each: the hook line to camera, the product next to the face, the use, the result. Put any dialogue in quotes; Seedance speaks it with native audio. Block three is style, the sound (her voice close to the mic, a tap dripping, no music) and the negatives. Copy the prompt below and swap the product, the lines and the room.
05Step 5
QC it, then sell the system, not the clip
Watch the clip three times: her face across the cuts, the label in every product shot, the hands on the dropper. If the label drifts, fix the packshot and run again, never re-roll blind. For a client, the five references ARE the brief: swap reference 2 for their product and reference 3 for their world, keep the creator, and you have a batch of on-brand UGC from one approved face. Keep a folder per client with their five references and their prompt.
All six prompts: the Seedance 2.5 prompt, then the five reference prompts (swap the product, the lines and the room)
A 12-second vertical UGC skincare video, filmed like a real creator's phone story.
Five references, each with one job. Reference 1 is the creator: keep her face,
freckles, hazel eyes, wavy dark-brown hair and gold hoops identical in every shot.
Reference 2 is the product: the DEWLY Hydra Serum bottle, frosted sage glass, white
dropper, white label with the black DEWLY wordmark. Keep its exact shape and label,
do not redesign or relabel it. Reference 3 is the location: this exact small bathroom
with white subway tiles, the round brass mirror and morning window light. Reference 4
is the wardrobe: she wears this oatmeal knit cardigan open over the white ribbed tank,
hair up in the tortoiseshell claw clip. Reference 5 is only the camera look: handheld
iPhone front camera, natural phone sharpness, slight noise, no phone frame visible.

0:00-0:03 HOOK. Selfie framing, phone propped on the mirror shelf. She leans into the
lens, half smile, and says: "Okay, this is the one step I never skip."
0:03-0:06 THE PRODUCT. She lifts the DEWLY bottle next to her cheek, label facing the
lens, turns it a little so the window light catches the glass.
0:06-0:09 THE DROP. Close handheld shot: she squeezes the dropper and three drops land
on her fingertips, then she presses them into her cheek.
0:09-0:12 THE GLOW. Back to selfie framing, she tilts her face toward the window, skin
catching the light, and says: "That's it. Morning done."

Style: real phone footage, slight handheld sway, natural morning window light, visible
skin texture and pores, no beauty filter. Audio: her natural voice close to the phone
mic, a tap dripping, soft room tone, no music. No morphing hands, no label changes, no
extra people, no on-screen text.

---- THE FIVE REFERENCE PROMPTS (Nano Banana Pro) ----

REF 1 · THE FACE (3:4)
Ultra-realistic candid documentary portrait photograph of a 27-year-old woman, chest-
up, facing the camera at eye level, relaxed half smile. Shoulder-length wavy dark-
brown hair loosely pinned in a tortoiseshell claw clip with flyaway strands, light
freckles across the nose and cheeks, soft hazel eyes, slightly asymmetric brows, no-
makeup look, small thin gold hoop earrings, plain white cotton tank top. Plain warm
light-grey painted wall behind her, nothing else in frame. Shot on an 85mm lens, soft
window light from the left. Visible skin pores, faint blemishes, subtle natural shine,
fine baby hairs. Muted natural color grading, subtle film grain. No plastic skin, no
airbrushing, no beauty filter, no text.

REF 2 · THE PRODUCT (1:1)
Real product photograph of one 30 ml skincare serum bottle standing upright, centered,
on a seamless pure white background. Frosted pale sage-green glass bottle, white
rubber dropper bulb with a brushed silver collar. A matte white label with a clean
black sans-serif wordmark reading exactly "DEWLY" and below it, smaller, "HYDRA
SERUM". Only that text, spelled exactly. Macro 85mm lens, soft diffused softbox light,
soft contact shadow, faint fingerprint smudge on the glass. Single bottle only, no
props.

REF 3 · THE ROOM (9:16)
Ultra-realistic candid photograph of a small real apartment bathroom in the morning,
nobody in it. White matte subway tiles with slightly uneven grout, a round mirror with
a thin brass frame above a white ceramic sink, a narrow oak shelf with a small pothos
plant and plain unlabeled jars, a frosted window letting in soft golden morning light.
Water droplets near the tap. 35mm lens at eye level, muted warm tones, subtle film
grain. No people, no brand names, no text.

REF 4 · THE OUTFIT (3:4)
Real overhead flat-lay photograph on a rumpled white linen duvet: an oversized oatmeal
chunky ribbed knit cardigan laid open, a plain white cotton ribbed tank top folded
inside it, and a tortoiseshell claw clip beside the collar. Visible knit texture,
loose fibers. Soft overcast window daylight, 35mm lens from directly above, subtle
film grain. No person, no logos, no text.

REF 5 · THE CAMERA LOOK (9:16)
A vertical frame captured as if shot handheld on an iPhone front camera: close on a
woman's hand only (no face in frame) resting on the edge of a white ceramic sink,
slight motion blur on the fingers, water droplets on the basin, warm morning window
light, slight wide-lens distortion, natural phone sharpness, mild digital noise. Full
bleed, no phone frame or bezel. No face, no product, no text.
